A new application designed for mobile phones having an onboard camera may transform the way you find information (think of it as geo-targeted information finding you).
Layar is described as “a free application on your mobile phone which shows what is around you by displaying real time digital information on top of reality through the camera of your mobile phone”.
The free application shows nearby points of interest and informational objects in realtime as an overlay to your phones camera view. The application is able to sych data to video by relying on your phones integrated GPS and internet access.
The current version of Layar is compatible with T-Mobile G1, HTC Magic and other Android phones in the Netherlands, but will be making it’s debut in other countries later. No planned roll-out dates for other countries have been released yet.
