At the Chocolate Show in Queens NY this week, a brilliantly conceived new treat was unveiled to the public.

Chocolate Covered Bacon.

Yes, chocolate covered bacon. Pure genius.

Rhonda Kave, choclatier and owner of Roni-Sue in Essex Street Market came up with the idea for this new treat after trying the chocolate and bacon bits bar from Vosges Chocolate, and decided that the sweet to pork ratio just wasn’t quite right.

Selling for $38 a pound may seem a bit steep in today’s financial mess, but I am having an extremely hard time not ordering some immediately. Hopefully they use a proper applewood smoked bacon like Nueske’s of Wittenburg, Wisconsin.  It doesn’t get much better than that. Starting at around $8 a pound, Nueske’s is well worth the price, trust me.
