The latest at Free Republic

Submitted by Gilligan on Wednesday, 17 December 200863 Comments
Over at Looney Tunes Central, also known as Free Republic, they’ve dumped Larry Sinclair (except for his few lovergirls) and have cooled on thinking lawsuits by Leo and Cort and who knows who else will prevent Barack Obama from taking office. Now they’re pinning their usual paranoid conspiracy brains on a Congressman and a Senator objecting during the counting of the Electoral College votes on January 9, 2009.
They’re pinning their hopes on Rep. John Linder (R-Georgia 7th). (He’s the successor to Bob Barr and a big backer of Fair Tax). Freepers have been calling Linder’s office, hoping he’s going to be The One to stop Obama from taking the oath of office on January 20, 2009 and throw the nation into chaos (and electing a Republican). According to freeper autumnraine, he/she called Linder’s office and was told he was going to object:

John Linder to stand and object Obama at Electoral Count

I read a post the other day that a Freeper got from Congressman John Linder, Georgia, stating that he would stand and object to Obama if he doesn’t show proof of constitutional eligibility.
I emailed Mr. Linder and asked if he did indeed write that email and if he was serious about holding Obama to task on something as serious as this.
A few moments ago I received a phone call from Congressman Linder’s office confirming that he intends to do exactly that and he is just as intent as us on verifying Obama’s eligibility.
I told his staffer (very nice lady) that I was proud of him and that I appreciated his bravery as I know he is going against the tide with this.
She said that she herself was concerned as she had to show full, long form documentation to even work in the building for a Congressman and we shouldn’t be told to just take someone’s word for an office as important as POTUS.
Anyway, I just wanted to let everyone know that at least one Congressman is standing up to this, even if the SCOTUS doesn’t have the nerve to examine what would seem to be a reasonable question.

A bit later in the thread, freeper viaveritasvita posted the results of his/her phone call to Linder’s office:

To: autumnraine; pissant; All
I just called Congressman Linder’s office. The woman I spoke with, Sarah, said that he is considering the option of standing on Jan 8 and requesting proof. It’s not a for sure thing. He is keeping his eye on the issue and is hopeful that it will be resolved before Jan 8. She said that a written objection has to be made AND tha t written objection has to be signed onto by a senator.
God bless Linder and God bless America!
pinging pissant because he/she is all over this issue and I thank him/her for it. I’ve been tracking this issue and am grateful for your input.

Waffling, of course, just as our kstreet said he would:
“Linder is full of crap…I know from dealing with him on a “community organizer” level. He says things to placate his base, then if the wind blows in another direction thats favorable for HIS career…then he jumps on THAT band wagon, leaving any previous positions in the wind.
I never liked the man…never will.” Of course, the freepers are orgasmic over Linder.
Of course pissant is pinged to the paranoid thread–that’s Larry’s lovergirl, PattyNJ. She’s ALL OVER this, and from the pictures we’ve seen of her, she’s got the girth to do it.
They’re also hoping that Ron Paul, Tom Tancredo, Brian Bilbray and Duncan Hunter stand with Linder. But there’s one little problem. They need a senator. They’re proposing Mitch McConnell, Saxby Chambiss, Jeff Sessions, Tom Coburn, Inhofe, James Inhofe , and who knows who else. They’re freeping! Yup, calling, faxing, emailing. The usual.
It’s been done before. kstreet noted that in recent elections,
“In 2000 (after the Fla. Vote debacle) Maxine Waters and others from the Black Caucus stood up to protest the results of the election. NO SENATOR…NOT ONE stood up for them to validate their claim.
In 2004 when the same thing happened again (voter disenfranchisement in Ohio), Senator barbara Boxer was the LONE Senator that stood up for the CBC. Of course after all the fanfare and hooplah…nothing changed. The electoral votes stayed the same.
So the chances for a Senator to stand up against Obama (a collegue) at this point are “slim and none”. It only takes a little common sense and a little knowledge about how government works to forsee the outcome of their “pipe dream”. What silly people they are.”
and Where’s the Book Larry pointed out,
“Stephanie Tubbs objected to the Ohio vote in 2005. It delayed the matter for a day and they voted against Tubbs concern. It’s the new Senate and Congress who are seated so the tables are stacked even higher against Linder and the GOP should he attempt something.”
Obama’s birth certificate in the Freeper thread is regarded as prima facie evidence - good until proven otherwise. Knowing that McCain’s and Clinton’s legal teams looked into this already, I think Linder would be shot down before he got started.
In light of all the SCOTUS decisions killing their claims, I think they’re clinging to the last thread of hope to figuratively lynch Obama’s election.
Obama announced in Feb 2007. And now, after the election has concluded nearly two years later and billions of dollars have been spent, the congress get serious about questioning his citizenship based upon a technicality?? They’ll look like complete asses to the vast majority of the country for the congress to leave it until Jan 9th?, 2009.”
But the freepers aren’t done. Oh, no. Their hate for Obama oozes out of their enlarged pores. Freeper dascallie–Larry’s lovergirl Calli–posted a thread on the new pictures of Obama taken back in his Occidental College days. In one or two, Obama is SMOKING A CIGARETTE! Yes, he’s smoking when smoking was still cool. calli posted a thread just seething about Obama:

What’s the story with that Drudge photo of Obama?
drudge ^
Posted on 12/17/2008 10:03:55 AM PST by dascallie
Hip, younger Obama smoking a joint…
Good Lord. Great example for the kids—moral erosion right before our eyes…

Followed up by her usual weaving of her loverboy, Larry Sinclair into the thread:

To: Texas_shutterbug
Lets be clear…..Larry Sinclair ( love him, or despise him,20but he is tenacious in his insistance…and he is putting his life on the line) says Obama was smoking crack cocaine with him as late as 1999.
Let’s not fool ourselves here.
11 posted on 12/17/2008 10:09:59 AM PST by dascallie

Yeah, calli, we know you love Larry, but sheesh–the closest Larry has come to getting to “putting his life on the line” is getting his toe stepped on at an Obama/Clinton rally. As as for “moral erosion,” hmmmm, your sweetie is a confessed drug runner and human smuggler, a thrice convicted felon, has a warrant out for him in Colorado, and likes hookers, meth/coke and booze. But she’s definitely blind to those things as Larry fleeces her bank account.
But as for other wackiness on Free Republic today, trashing of the program at the Inaguaration, Obama-Blago-Rezko…well, I’d stay on Free Republic longer, but I’m starting to get an allergic reaction to paranoid schizos meeting en masse.
But as kstreet said,

Dang the freepers are ALWAYS coming up with these last minute REVELATIONS that appear to be the ONE THING THEY NEED TO STOP THE NEGRO.
Everything they have come up with thus far backfires in their empty-brained faces. Its hilarious to me!

    kato,

Barbara Boxer and the CBC did it in the last election and nothing happened.

If Linder and another senator–perhaps Chambliss–do it, nothing will happen again. If they stand and object, they better have the goods to prove it, or they’ll be shuttled to the fringes of electoral history.

The key paragraph in that article–POSSESSION OF A FIREARM BY A PROHIBITED PERSON. Oh, yeah, and HE FACES UP TO 3 YEARS, 1 MONTH IN PRISON.

“Nathan Johnson pleaded guilty Tuesday in Denver federal court to possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. He faces up to 3 years, 1 month in prison at his March 20 sentencing.”

    And that’s a plea bargain.

  • Where's the book, Larry? says:

Here’s a repost since I posted before I was able to see the thread had moved on to this one (fyi):

I’d been away for a while. I did a post count after things dropped off for Larry last July. I see that he’s only had 100 posts in the last week so he’s dropped off dramatically again. In less than 24 hours, we’ve had 156 posts. There’s no way he’s going to sell many “books” with that low traffic on his site.

Back to his claim that this wasn’t about him making money: if this book really wasn’t about money, why bother with printing costs and a publisher and all the hassle? He could just type the thing up in a word processor, slap it into a PDF link on LarrySinclair.org or his blog and be done with it. No fuss simple. Anyone could print their own copy, etc and that would be it. He could still have his Paypal help with bandwidth fees because his traffic is so low, he isn’t using much bandwidth anyway.

So his actions speak louder than his lying words: the book is all about Larry making more money off his suckers. Zero doubt about it. (not that that observation isn’t something we at the CP didn’t already know … but might be informative for the suckers looking in)

  • gilligan says:

Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan’s attempt to remove Gov. Blagojevich from office by petitioning the Illinois Supreme Court was denied without comment today.

    http://newsblogs.chicagotribune.com/clout_st/2008/12/illinois-suprem.html

And Blago’s lawyer is down in the state capitol of Springfield, raising hell with the Blago impeachment panel:

    http://www.chicagobreakingnews.com/2008/12/govs-lawyer-arrives-at-impeachment-inquiry.html

I giggled when I came to the part about Blago’s lawyer asked the state to pay for Blago’s counsel (which would be HIM) because Rod is having trouble raising money for his legal defense.

  • Tony says:

    WTBL. Well said.

His posts are down. I think the “Assassin” photos frightened many of his followers.

Great point on his book for money hoax. I would love to hear his reasoning why it couldnt be a PDF link.

    Great Post Gilly!

  • gilligan says:

    WTBL,

You’re spot on. All he’d have to do is exactly what you said. But instead, he’s extorted $30 a head for 150 books (plus the bulk seller who allegedly pushed him to the 200 book mark), more or lesss, based on a book that doesn’t exist. If he wanted to cover costs, he could charge $5 a download, or some minimal charge to cover his bandwidth expenses.

For $30 (including $5 shipping), I’d expect–in fact, demand–a hard cover book of at least 300 pages, with a full color dust cover.

    ***************

  • neonzx says:

    a) He’s dead.
    b) He’s in custody again.
    c) He got camper-jacked and they made off with all his shit.

    Pick one.

  • gilligan says:

    neon,

As much as I detest Larry, I don’t want him dead.

In custody, OH, YEAH, cooling his heels in a jail cell while waiting for the call from Pueblo, Colorado to say, oh, THAT Larry Sinclair. We don’t want him–you keep him. That might take some time.

And who would camperjack a 30 year old camper that’s falling apart already?

But he could be reunited with Phillip and stuffing coke up his nose and be prancing on a beach (watch out for the undertow, Larry), or just binging for the hell of it.

In any case, I’m waiting to see the explanation. It’s going to be dazzling in its level of bullshit. I expect Obots and Obama to be featured prominently.

  • Where's the book, Larry? says:

I thought Madigan made a respectable pitch but I don’t think many will be surprised with it’s failure as the claim didn’t match up well at all with the intent of the law.

The decision now clarifies, if it wasn’t already obvious, that it’s really up to the legislature to get rid of him. Even if they got a criminal conviction fast tracked (which is difficult given the complexities of the 76 page complaint so far), that wouldn’t automatically result in him having to give up his post any time soon.

Now the question will be if the laws as they are on the books (maybe 175 years old) have enough teeth to impeach when challenged by a good defense lawyer. He’s already asked some apparently good questions on the “standard of proof” being undefined.

    * Wrotnowski v. Bysiewicz, (Cort Wrotnowski): (12/15/08)
    o DENIED

    o DENIED

    * Strunk NY Cases, (Christopher Strunk): (12/04/08)

I think this is the only other left for SCOTUS:
    o Hunter v. Obama

But there are some in the lower courts that may make their way up to SCOTUS.

It ain’t over until it’s over.

The pictures of Barack Obama, from when he was a freshman at Occidental College, are far from street art. In fact, the negatives sat in a binder for nearly 30 years in the home of Lisa Jack, who took the photos of her then classmate Barry Obama. They are striking images of the young man who, as Obama says in Dreams from My Father, was still finding himself at Occidental.

I kept reading for someone to point out that Larry had no convictions since 1986 because 1) he was in prison for 14 years after that one and 2) he jumped bond and is still a fugitive from justice for his next felony arrest shortly after he was released.
